Every new artist has his own story to share on how they started in the industry and how they were discovered. Though some were directly given the chance to become part of the industry but most of them have to go through various challenges or have to join some talent shows such as American Idol. While others are fortunate to acquire success without experiencing any hardship, Nicki Minja has to experience a lot of the challenges before she become successful in the industry.
Onika Maraj, which is now known as Nicki Minaj, is a native of Southside Jamaica, Queens, New York where she was raised and went to school. She finished her education as a high school student at LaGuardia High School, the place where she learned how to sing and how to act. It is also the place where she realized what she wanted for her life and what she wanted to become. She continued studying her music while working as an administrative assistant. During her free time she devote it in learning and writing music hoping that someday what she has written will be heard by other people.
She was given the chance to perform but as a background vocals. Only because she wants more than just a background vocal career she decided to leave the group and aim to perform solo. Fortunately, her hard work pays off when she was discovered in MySpace by the CEO of Dirty Money and offered her a contract to perform under the Dirty Money Label making her the front of the company. Being discovered does not really end there because the challenge for Nicki is only beginning. Though she was signed under the Dirty Money Label, she was not instantly given the chance to release her own album. She was first given the chance to do mix CD wherein she worked with several artists. After a few release of mix CDs, this year Nicki is set to release her first album. She already released her first single entitled "Massive Attack" that will be followed by "Your Love."
Nicki owes the success that she is experiencing right now to her mother who pushed her to pursue her dreams and never stopped believing. Though she no longer has her mother with her, she still believes that wherever she might be, her mother is proud of what she has achieved and will be achieving in the future. The secret of her success started with hard work and with her dedication to perform well. She believes that if you will continue to dream and believe you will surely achieve the success that you want.
Now, Nicki is preparing to launch her album this coming June and a lot of her fans are already anticipating on it. She became a role model to a lot of individuals and an inspiration to those who are already losing hope. Her music as well as pure talent is her key to conquer the world of music. Hip-Hop is now on its new age and Nicki is an instrument of it.
